This page describes the data used by this transcript tool. There are no accounts, advertising trackers or cookies for visitors.

Video links and transcripts

When you request a transcript, the server receives the video ID and the caption language. The video ID and language are sent to our caption provider (Apify or Decodo) to retrieve the captions. Retrieved captions and video metadata are cached to make repeat requests faster. Using the tool never publishes a transcript in the public library.

AI summaries and translations

When you choose AI summary or Translate, the cached transcript of that video is processed by Cloudflare Workers AI on Cloudflare’s network. The generated summary or translation is cached so that the next request for the same video loads instantly. AI features are only available for videos retrieved through this site; subtitle files you open locally are never sent.

AI prompt library

Copying a prompt places it and the transcript on your clipboard. If you open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini or Perplexity from the reader, your browser goes to that service, and short prompts may be included in the link. Those services handle your data under their own policies.

Browser extension

The Chrome extension adds a collapsed Transcript card next to the player on YouTube watch pages. Until you open the card, nothing is sent to this site. When you open it, the card loads this site’s transcript panel with the video ID, which works like the transcript tool described above. While the panel is open, the extension passes the video’s playback position to the panel so the current line can be highlighted, and moves the video when you click a line. It does not read your YouTube account, history, comments or other page content. The toolbar button and right-click menu only open a transcript page for the video you choose.

Imported subtitle files

SRT and VTT files opened with the import option stay in your browser tab. Their contents are not uploaded. Closing or reloading the page clears the imported transcript.

YouTube

The reader shows the video thumbnail from YouTube’s image server. The video player loads only after you press play or click a timestamp, and uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). Opening a video on YouTube connects to YouTube under its own policies.

Hosting and abuse prevention

Cloudflare hosts the website and processes network requests, including IP addresses used for rate limiting and abuse prevention. Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page views and loading speed; it does not use cookies or track you across sites. Fonts are served from this website, not from third-party font services.

Public library

Library transcripts are published separately by the site operator. Each published page links to its original video. A tool request alone is not permission to publish a transcript.

Administration

The private administration dashboard uses a secure session cookie for operator login. Visitors do not receive cookies from the public tool.
